I am really excited to reenter the world of self publishing. The novel is complete. I have received a lot of good feedback on chapter samples thus far. Currently I am raising money for the book's editing and promotion. I feel really fortunate to have met a local artist Clint Shaw who has come up with some really creative potential covers. My friend Dave Farkas has helped me create a short video of myself doing a reading from Monkey King. I will use both Clint's art and Dave's video on my kickstarter. I plan to launch some time next week. Please feel free to check out my fund raiser's preview and give me any feedback or advice. Recently I was camping with all sixty of my seventh graders and got into some really great conversations with students and teachers.
One of the kids expressed his love of comics so I had to tell him about what was coming. I found myself saying, "You know how every hero has an origin story right?".
He nodded his head vigorously and replied, "Yeah, of course Mr. Nick!"
I continued, "Well, this book is the origin of Monkey King."
